What seemed to by A UFO sighting on a Dutch website actually turned out to be a launch of starlink satellites by Space X. It was around 4.30 am when Space X launched a string of 60 satellites as a part of its Starlink Constellation. These satellites made their way through the skies up to the space and soon after followed a frenzy of reports on the Dutch website around over 150 sightings of them by unaware spotters. Many didn’t know what it was, whether an attack on their country or some UFO. People posted videos of the sightings in the wee hours of the morning as well. Some called it a caravan of lights, some string of lights and some a train of lights.
The sightings created a lot of speculation and excitement amongst the spotters and people in general until the truth came to light. The billionaire Elon Musks project about providing internet through space is the reason behind the spotting of the startlink satellites. These satellites were spotted in the Netherland Skies and there were people who even took it up as an invasion by aliens.
These starlink satellites infact were launched on a Falcon 9 rocket. After an hours post the lift off, the falcon started releasing satellites at 450 kilometers altitude. The weight of every satellite was 227 kgs and the objective was to position them a lower orbit of 550 kms. The satellites were taken to the 450 km altitude and the separated. These satellites further had to use their own thrust to get into the desirable position. Starlink is a huge project and involves the activation of over 800 satellites post which it will be active and operational.
Amid the speculation of an UFO sighting, there was one Dutchman who had significant knowledge on what really mysterious lights looks like and hence wasn’t baffled at all. He apparently cheered these lights the moment he sighted them.
Well, as per reports these sightings will continue for another dozen times, until the 800 satellites are positioned and activated.
