Father of All Bombs

When it comes about defense power, then the countries that top the chart undoubtedly includes the name USA. They have already proved it long back when they dropped the nuclear ‘little boy’ and ‘fat man’ destroying Hiroshima and Nagasaki or rather almost wiping it off from the world map. Only in April last year did USA drop the GBU-43 or the Massive Ordinance Air Blast in order to destroy the Islamic State hideouts. This weapon, known as the mother of all bombs has a weight of 21600 pounds and comes cost a freaking 16 million dollars. Another fierce player which is in no way less than USA is Russia. It has excelled in developing bombs, missiles and many other destructive weapons that can create a havoc if used.

But, do you know why it is called the Mother of all conventional weapons. Because, the father of all Bombs is the Aviation Thermoabric bomb of increased power and its Russia’s answer to the American MOAB. Now, why is it that this bomb is called the Father. The answer is simple, this FOAB has a blast radius of 300 meters which is almost double of that of MOAB, so the temperature that is produced is higher too and the Russians claim that in terms of power it is four times more powerful than the Uncle Sam’s MOAB. This bomb is called the father due to its similarity to Americas GBU-43/B, massive ordinance blast or the so called mother of all bombs which is derived from tis military acronym MOAB. Hence, it is called the FOAB or father of all bombs and the most powerful conventional or non-nuclear weapon of the world.

Though, US Analysts have questioned the probity of the size of the weapon as well as its power. The effect of a blast of this bomb is similar to that of a tactical nuclear weapon because this thermobaric device has the ability to produce TNT equivalent of 44 tons besides seven tons of a new kind of explosive. The difference between conventional weapons and thermobaric weapons is that they not only generate a blast wave that is long and sustained but with higher temperatures too, ultimately damaging a larger area compared to their conventional counter parts.
