About the Visit:

Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, the Spaceport of India, is responsible for providing Launch Base Infrastructure for the Indian Space Programme. This Centre has the facilities for solid propellant processing, static testing of solid motors, launch vehicle integration and launch operations, range operations comprising telemetry, tracking and command network and mission control centre. ACSCE Students visited SHAR,Sriharikota and got an exposure to see the mission control center, launch pads, Museum, Integration of rockets and other activities happening in SHAR, Sriharikota. The visit started at 10.00 AM.

In the visit, students had a visual exposure about two launch pads from where the rocket launching operations of SSLV, PSLV, GSLV and GSLV MK III are carried out. Apart from that they have seen the Mission control center and various operations carried out in SHAR. During the visit the SHAR Faculty has given explanation about MCC, rocket stages and integration, launch pad Umbilical Towers and sounding rocket launching. The students were expressed that this program was highly useful to them to understand the journey of ISRO and as well as to gain the knowledge on several systems used during the launch. The visit finished by 3.00 PM after taking the opinion and feedback from students.
